Been A While, But.....

Band: Mare
Location: Toronto, ON
EP: Mare
Year: 2004
Genre: Post-Hardcore

I'm not really sure how I should go about this blog, but, I do know I Love this EP. One of the most intense Post-Hardcore/Sludge bands I've ever heard. And then they throw in some Amazing clean vocals, and if you can believe it, some Beach Boys styled harmonies. All the vocals and guitar are done by Tyler Semrick-Palmateer who was the vocalist on The End's debut album. Amazing. What's sad though is that they only did this EP and one song on the Melvin's tribute album, before they disbanded. If you're into Intense Metal, check it out, NOW!!!

Not What I Expected

Band: Island
Location: Bonn, Germany
Album: Island
Year: 2010
Genre: Death Metal

I listened to this because the guitarist, Christian Kolf, is also in another band I really enjoy called Woburn House. The label read "Death Metal" so I was prepared for some intense stuff, but it is quite a departure from their first album. It's more along the lines of really good Post-Metal, just as Woburn House is. If there is such a thing as mellow metal, this is pretty close. A great listen.

Current Listening

What I'm listening to while I learn about this blog stuff.

Band: Ephel Duath
Location: Padova, Italy
Album: Pain Necessary To Know
Year: 2005
Genre: Progressive Metal

One of the most intense fusions of Metal and Jazz I've ever heard. Superb musicianship. Not for many tastes, but for the adventurous, you shouldn't be disappointed.

Well...here goes....

A feeble attempt at commentary...
And you know what they say about opinions....
